Introduction to iOS 8 Development is a intensive 1-day course teaching interested developers how to build apps for iOS 8 on iPhone and iPad.
Who is it for?
Aimed at developers with some experience in other platforms or languages who wish to learn how to develop iOS apps.
No knowledge of Objective-C, Swift or the iOS SDK is required in this course.
What will I learn?
Curriculum during the 1-day intensive course:
Objective-C: Before developing in Swift, you learn the usful basics of Objective-C
Swift: Apple’s brand new language for App developers
Xcode: Project management, building and running, debugging.
Cocoa Touch: The UIKit and Foundation frameworks, the building blocks of any iOS App
Storyboards and Segues: Build the flow of an App with the visual Storyboards
Autolayout: Create flexible interfaces for various screen sizes
Navigation: Learn how to move between views of your application
TableViews: Display content in an interactive list
Keyboard Input: Get keyboard input from your users
User Preferences: Save and load your user’s preferences
Web Services: Fetch useful information from web services in JSON format and process information
Core Location: Track your device on the world
MapKit: After your know the location you display it on the map
Persistence: Save and load the user data
Core Animation: Do it the Apple way and add some polish to the App user interface
Universal Apps: One more thing: Build Apps that work on iPhone and iPad
During the course you will be developing a realistic and useful application that will run on the iPhone, iPad and also iPod touch devices.
What do I get?
You will receive 1 day of training in developing apps for iOS 8 using Xcode 6 and Swift, along with a copy of the slides and code used throughout the course.
In addition, you will also receive material how to publish your Apps on Apple’s App Store, a copy of my e-book and 10% single use voucher to use on any course on Coursevine

What do I need?
You will need to bring an Apple laptop capable of running OS X 10.9 Mavericks or higher with Xcode 6 installed.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
The course is held in Mile End with many options for public transport.
Please check the venue’s website for the nearest train and/or underground stations.
Do I have to organise my own drinks and food?
It depends. In the VIP ticket everything is included. Tea and Coffee will be served with Pastries. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs.
